Location of Udaipur:

The District of Udaipur is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 13882.55 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Rajsamand on the North, District Chittorgarh on the East, Districts Banswara and Durgapur on the South, District Sirohi on the West, District Pali on the Northwest and State of Gujarat on the Southwest. The City of Udaipur is the headquarter of this District.

The Udaipur City is known as the ‘City of Lakes’. It was founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the Capital of the Mewar Kingdom. It is famous for Rajput Era Palaces and Lakes.

This District has been divided into 11 Tehsils and 6 Sub-Tehsils –

Tehsils – Girwa, Gogunda, Kherwada, Rishabhdeo, Mavli, Kotda, Jhadol, Salumber, Sarada, Lasadia, Vallabhnagar

Sub-Tehsils – Barapal, Kurawad, Sanwad, Kanod, Bhindar, Merpur

Climate of Udaipur:

This District has tropical Climate with four main Seasons –

  • Summer – From March to June when maximum temperature rises to 45oC, while average temperature remains around 33oC. The Month of June is the hottest one.
  • Monsoon – From July to Mid-September with average annual rainfall of 607.60 mm and temperature around 30oC.
  • Post Monsoon – From Mid-September to October end when average temperature remains around 28oC.
  • Winters – From November to February when minimum temperature falls to around 5oC, while average Day temperature remains around 25oC. The Month of January is the coldest one.
