Location of Dungarpur:
The District of Dungarpur is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 3770 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Udaipur on the North, District Banswara on the East and Southeast and Gujarat State on the West and South. The City of Dungarpur is the headquarter of this District.
The District Dungarpur is named after ‘the town of hillocks’ and the capital of the former princely state of Dungarpur. The town of Dungarpur is said to have been a hamlet of Dungaria, a Bhil Chieftain. The most of the part of District is hilly.
This District has been divided into 4 Tehsils and 2 Sub-Tehsils –
Tehsils – Dungarpur, Sagwara, Aspur, Simalwara
Sub-Tehsils – Galiakot, Chikhli
Climate of Dungarpur:
The Climate of this District is mainly dry and it experiences four main Seasons –
- Summer – From April to June when maximum temperature rises to 45oC and average temperature remains around 36oC.
- Monsoon – From July to Mid-September with average annual rainfall of 700 mm and temperature around 32oC.
- Post Monsoon – From Mid-September to October end when temperature remains around 27oC.
- Winters – From November to March when minimum temperature falls to around 5oC, while the average Day temperature remains around 20oC.
