Location of Saheliyon Ki Bari:
This is a magnificent Garden located on the banks of the Fateh Sagar Lake in the Northern part of Udaipur City, District Udaipur, Rajasthan.
History of Saheliyon Ki Bari:
It was laid in the 18th Century A.D. by Maharana Sangram Singh II (ruler of Udaipur from 1716 to 1734 A.D.) as a gift to his queen. The queen had brought 48 maids to Udaipur as a part of the dowry at the time of her marriage. She along with her maids and other female companions used to come to this garden to relax and spend some time away from the matters of the court. So this Garden is also known as the ‘Garden of the Maids of Honour’.
Attractions of Saheliyon Ki Bari:
It is known for its lush green lawns, bougainvillea creepers, beautiful fountains, attractive flowerbeds, bird-fountains, chiseled kiosks, four delightful pools including a lotus pool, delicately carved marble pavilions, and marble elephants sprinkling water. This garden also has a small Museum which houses a rich collection of antique royal household items and many photographs. The most prized possession of the Museum are some stuffed cobras and other animals.
