Location of City Palace Museum:

This Museum is also known as Government Pratap Museum and is located on the Eastern banks of Lake Pichhola inside the Mardana and Zenana Palaces (the Palaces for the royal men and royal ladies respectively) of the City Palace Complex in Udaipur City, District Udaipur, Rajasthan.

History & Architecture of City Palace Museum:

It was established in the year 1969 and is housed in a building which is 33 meters high, 333 meters long and 90 meters wide. The entrance gate of the Museum is known as Ganesh Deori, which means the “Door of Lord Ganesha”.

Attractions of City Palace Museum:

It houses a huge collection of more than 27000 photographic and painted materials, artifacts, ancient sculptures, old inscriptions, coins, weapons, armaments and personal belongings of the rulers of Mewar, depicting the history of the Maharanas of Mewar and the royal style of their living. The most prized possession of the Museum are the armor of the legendary ruler and brave warrior Maharana Pratap, the drums and bugles of Rana Sanga of Mewar and the turban of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as a token of friendship between Shahjahan and Maharana Khazan Singh.

Visiting Hours in City Palace Museum:

The Museum remains open on all days from 9.30 A.M. to 5.30 P.M. An entry fee of Rs. 75 per adult and Rs. 40 per child is charged. A fee of Rs. 200 is charged for carrying any kind of camera inside the Museum.
