Location of Chittorgarh:
The District of Chittorgarh is located in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 10856 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Kota on the East, District Bundi on the Northeast, District Bhilwara on the North, District Rajsamand on the Northwest, District Udaipur on the West, District Banswara on the Southwest and District Mandsaur of Madhya Pradesh State on the Southwest. The City of Chittorgarh is the headquarter of this District.
The District of Chittorgarh was founded by Bappa Rawal, the legendary founder of Sisodia clan in the 8th Century A.D. It is famous for a massive Fort covering an area of 700 acres on the top of a 180 meter high hillock, standing as a tribute to the courage and valour of Chittorgarh and as a witness to some of the bloodiest battles in the history of Rajasthan.
This District has been divided into 10 Tehsils –
Rashmi, Gangrar, Begun, Chittorgarh, Bhadesar, Kapasan, Nimbahera, Barisadri, Doongla, Rawatbhata
Climate of Chittorgarh:
The climate of this District is quite dry and arid. It experiences three main Seasons –
- Summer – From March to June when maximum temperature rises to about 45oC and average temperature remains around 34oC.
- Monsoon – From July to September when average temperature remains around 28oC with average annual rainfall of 850 mm.
- Winters – From October to February when minimum temperature falls to around 7oC and average Day temperature remains around 20oC.
