Location of Tonk:
The District of Tonk is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 7194 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Jaipur on the North, District Sawai Madhopur on the East, District Kota on the Southeast, District Bundi on the South, District Bhilwara on the Southwest and District Ajmer on the West. The City of Tonk is the headquarter of this District.
The City of Tonk is also known as ‘Nawabi Nagari’ – ‘The City of Nawabs’ or ‘Rajasthan Ka Lucknow’. Jaipur’s King Man Singh conquered Tari & Tokra Janpad in the regime of Akbar. In the Year 1643, twelve villages of Tokra Janpad were given to Bhola Brahmin. Later on these 12 Villages were named as Tonk by Bhola Brahmin.
This District has been divided into 7 Tehsils –
Tehsils – Tonk, Newai, Malpura, Uniara, Todaraisingh, Deoli, Piploo

Climate of Tonk:
The Climate of this District is mainly hot and dry. This District experiences four main Seasons –
- Summer – From March to June when maximum temperature rises to 45oC, while average temperature remains around 35oC. The Month of June is the hottest one.
- Monsoon – From July to Mid-September with average annual rainfall of 613.60 mm and temperature around 30oC.
- Post Monsoon – From Mid-September to October end when average temperature remains around 25oC.
- Winters – From November to February when minimum temperature falls to around 8oC, while average Day temperature remains around 20oC. The Month of January is the coldest one.
