Location of Bhilwara:

The District of Bhilwara is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 10474.51 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Tonk on the Northeast, Districts Rajsamand and Udaipur on the South, West, Southwest and Northwest, District Ajmer on the North, District Bundi on the East, Northeast and Southeast and District Chhitorgarh on the South. The City of Bhilwara is the headquarter of this District.

This District was mostly inhabited by ‘Bhils’ in the old Days, hence it came to be known as Bhilwara. It is famous for its Textile industry and is known as Textile City of Rajasthan.

This District has been divided into 12 Tehsils and 4 Sub-Tehsils –

Tehsils – Bhilwara, Banera, Mandal, Shahpura, Mandalgarh, Asind, Kotdi, Jahajpur, Bijoliyan, Sahada, Raipur, Hurda.

Sub-Tehsils – Kareda, Badnor, Hamirgarh, Puliakalan.


Climate of Bhilwara:

This District has very hot and dry Summer and extremely cold winter Season. It experiences four main Seasons –

  • Summer – From March to June when maximum temperature soars to around 47oC and minimum temperature remains around 37oC.
  • Monsoon – From July to Mid-September when average temperature remains around 35oC with high humidity level.
  • Post-Monsoon – From Mid-September to November with average temperature of 30oC.
  • Winter – From December to February when Minimum temperature falls to around 4oC and average Day temperature remains around 15oC.
