Location of Jalore:

The District of Jalore is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 10564.44 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Barmer on the West and Northwest, District Sirohi on the East and Southeast, District Pali on the Northeast and District Banaskantha of Gujarat State on the South. The City of Jalore is the headquarter of this District.

Jalore\u2019s old name was Jabalipur being the sacred glove of Mahirishi Jabali , later on it came to be known as Jalore.

This District has been divided into 7 Tehsils and 2 Sub-Tehsils:

Tehsils – Jalore, Ahore, Bhinmal, Sanchore, Raniwara, Sayla, Bagora

Sub-Tehsils – Bhadrajun, Chitalwana

Climate of Jalore:

This District is a part of the Luni basin and has tropical and half tropical Climate. There is large variation in temperature with very hot Summers and very cold Winters. This District experiences four main Seasons –

  • Summer – From April to June when maximum temperature rises to 48oC, while average temperature remains around 41oC.
  • Monsoon – From July to Mid-September with average annual rainfall of 435 mm and temperature around 35oC.
  • Post Monsoon – From Mid-September to October end when temperature remains around 30oC.
  • Winters – From November to March when minimum temperature falls to around 1oC to 2oC, while average day temperature remains around 20oC. January is the coldest Month in this District.
