Location of Alwar:

The District of Alwar is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 8380 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Jaipur on the West and Southwest, District Dausa on the South, District Bharatpur on the East and Southeast, District Gurgaon of Haryana State on the North and Northeast and District Mahendragarh of Haryana State on the Northwest. The City of Alwar is the headquarter of this District.

The City of Alwar, which gives its name to the District, was founded by Maharaja Alaghraj, son of Maharaja Kakil of Amer in 1049 A.D. who named it Alpur which later on changed to Alwar.

This District has been divided into 12 Tehsils –

Alwar, Rajgarh, Laxmangarh, Tijara, Behror, Kishangarh Bas, Thanagazi, Bansur, Kathumar, Mundawar, Ramgarh, Kotkasim.

Climate of Alwar:

The climate of this District is quite dry with very hot summers, cold winter season and a short monsoon season. It experiences four main Seasons:

  • Summer – From April to June with maximum temperature rising to 43oC and minimum temperature remaining around 35oC.
  • Monsoon – From July to mid-September with mild showers and temperature falling to around 29oC.
  • Post Monsoon – From Mid-September to October end with average temperature of 24oC.
  • Winters – From November to March with average Day temperature of around 13oC and minimum temperature of 6oC. The Month of January is the coldest one.
