This Fort is located within the buffer zone of the Sariska National Park and is at a distance of 18 Km from the main gate of the National Park in District Alwar, Rajasthan.
History of the Fort:
It was built in the 17th Century A.D. and it was in this Fort that Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan and the rightful heir to the Mughal throne is said to have been held captive by his younger brother, Aurangzeb. After the disintegration of the Mughal Empire, it finally came under the control of the Maharaja of Alwar State, who made it his Winter Palace.
Architecture of the Fort:
It is located amidst hillocks and is surrounded by lush green forests full of a rich variety of flora and fauna. It is reachable via a steep flight of steps and is adorned with faded, but still beautiful wall paintings.
