Location of Tijara Jain Temple:

This Temple is situated at a distance of 55 Km from Alwar City at an ancient town Tijara, District Alwar, Rajasthan.

History of Tijara Jain Temple:

It is dedicated to Lord Chandra Prabhu, the 8th Tirthankar of Jains. This huge rectangular Temple was built in the year 1956.

Architecture of Tijara Jain Temple:

This Temple has magnificent exteriors and a sky high pinnacle. The interiors are also decorated beautifully. The walls of the main hall are adorned with glass work and colorful paintings based on mythological stories. The white stone idol of Lord Chandra Prabhu is 15 inches in height and is seated in Padmasana posture. This miraculous idol was recovered from the ground in 1956 and bears an inscription dating back to 1497 A.D. Another black stone idol of Lord Chandra Prabhu was recovered from ground in 1972 which is 8 inches in height and is seated in Padmasana posture. The Temple also has idols of Lord Parshavnath (the 23rd Jain Tirthankar) and Lord Mahavir (the 24th Jain Tirthankar).

Another Jain Temple dedicated to Lord Parshavnath and Lord Neminath (the 22nd Jain Tirthankar) is situated in Tijara City. It was built in 1838 A.D. and is famous for its beautiful pinnacles.
