The National Power Training Institute Delhi (also known as National Power Training Institute – Northern Region) is a Government Institute; Set up by the Ministry of Power, Government of India in the year 1974. It is a part of the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), an ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Organization, which is a National Apex body for Training and Human Resources Development in Power Sector.

  • B. Tech. Power Engineering
    Seats – 60 (1st Shift) + 03 (under LEET)
Eligibility
  • First Year of Engineering & Technology:
    Pass in 12th Class of 10+2 pattern of C.B.S.E. or equivalent with a minimum aggregate of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ ST/ Widows or Wards of Defence Personnel/ PWD candidates) in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics provided the candidate has passed in each subject separately. The candidate must additionally have passed English as a subject of study (core/ elective/ functional) in the qualifying examination from a recognized Board of Education.
  • Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry):
    Three years Diploma in any of these branches of Engineering/ Technology – Computer Engg., Automobile Engg., Chemical Engg., Civil Engg., Construction Engg., Electrical Engg., Electronics & Communication Engg., Electronics Engg., Instrumentation & Control Engg., Mechanical Engg., Maintenance Engg., Plastic Engg., Printing Technology, Production Engg., Public Health & Environmental Engg., Tool & Die Making with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ ST/ Widows or Wards of Defence Personnel/ PWD candidates) from Institute/ University/ Board recognized by AICTE. The candidates with Diploma in Architecture are not eligible. OR
    B.Sc. with 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ ST/ Widows or Wards of Defence Personnel/ PWD candidates) in aggregate with Maths as a subject from any recognized University.
Admission Procedure
  • First Year of Engineering & Technology:
    The admission is based on the score in the Common Entrance Test (CET for BTECH) & Centralized Counselling conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi (For details visit http://ipu.ac.in).
    85% seats are reserved for the residents of NCT of Delhi, while the remaining seats are filled on All India basis.
  • Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry):
    The admission is based on the score in the CET for LEBTECH (DIPLOMA) and CET for LEBTECH (BSC) & Centralized Counselling conducted by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi (For details visit http://ipu.ac.in).

Four Academic years comprising of 8 Semesters, Three Academic years comprising of 6 Semesters for lateral entry candidates.

Eligibility
B.E./ B.Tech. or its equivalent in Mechanical Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Electrical & Electronics Engg./ Power Engg. with 60% marks. Those appearing in their final year examination can also apply. However, they must submit their final Degree/ Provisional Degree Certificate at the time of Counselling. The Graduate Engineers sponsored by PSUs/ Private Power Utilities can also apply. There is no age limit for admission to PGDC.
Admission Procedure
The NPTI invites On-Line Applications in the month of April/May every year. All the candidates are required to register & fill the Application On-Line only. The admission is based on the score in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted at Bangalore, Durgapur, Faridabad, Guwahati, New Delhi, Nangal, Nagpur, Neyveli & Counselling conducted by one of the National Power Training Institutes’. The CET includes the General Aptitude (including Basic Mathematics/ Basic Science/ Language/ Analytical Reasoning/ Data interpretation etc.), General Engineering, and Engineering Discipline Specialization Paper in line with the qualifying Examination. The Allowed Specializations in the qualifying Degree Examinations are : Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, Electrical Engineering or equivalent, the Power engineering students may opt for either of these (For details visit www.npticet.com/).

Fee Structure of National Power Training Institute Delhi
The Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi has fixed the fee structure for various courses offered by National Power Training Institute Delhi. A brief detail of the fee (as fixed for the year 2015-2016) is as follows:
  • The fee for B.Tech. course is Rs. 40,000/- per student per annum. The fee to be paid by the students admitted through LEET is the same as applicable to their counterpart students admitted in the four year B.Tech. Program.
  • The fee for Post Graduate Diploma course in Thermal Power Plant Engineering for different categories of candidates is : For Non-sponsored candidates: Rs. 2,30,000/- + Service Tax @15% per participant; For Sponsored candidates: Rs. 3,60,000/- + Service Tax @15% per participant; For Foreign Nationals: (i) SAARC Countries – US$ 15,000 + Service Tax @15%, per participant (ii) Other than SAARC Countries – US$ 17,000 + Service Tax @15% per participant.
    The above course fee does not include other Institution Fees, Lodging/Boarding Charges etc. The other Institution fees like Security deposit, Hostel Rent, Transport Charges, Food charges, Internet Charges etc. has to be paid extra at respective Institutes at the time of joining. The Placement charges @ Rs. 15,000/- + Service Tax @15% has to be paid by the selected candidate.
