The Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Jamia Millia Islamia has been established by Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University). The Jamia Millia Islamia has been declared a Minority Educational Institution under Article 30 (1) of the Constitution of India read with Section 2 (g) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act by the Commission. The main research focus of the Centre includes Nano-fabrication & Nano-device, Nano-materials & Nano-structures, Nano-biotechnology & Nano-medicine, Nano-structure characterization & measurements.

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engg./ Mechanical Engg./ Electronics & Communication Engg./ Computer Engg. / Instrumentation Engg./ Aeronautical Engg. or equivalent with 60% marks (First Division) or 6.75 CGPA in 10-point scale OR M.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry (with Mathematics up to Graduation level)/ Electronics/ Material Science/ Electronic Instrumentation or equivalent with not less than 60% marks in the absolute system or a minimum grade of 6.75 on a 10 point grade. Note 1: 30% seats are reserved for Muslim applicants, 10% seats are reserved for Women applicants who are Muslims, 10% seats are reserved for OBCs-NCL and ST category candidates who are Muslims (as per the list notified by the Central Government) & 3% seats are reserved for PD category candidates. 5% seats are filled by internal students of Jamia Millia Islamia who have passed their qualifying examination (X or XII) from Jamia Schools as regular students. One seat (over and above total seats) in each Discipline is reserved for Kashmiri Migrants & One seat (over and above total seats) in each discipline is reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. Note 2: The Foreign Nationals/ NRI’s may apply as Regular candidates under General category/ against Supernumerary Seats/ as ICCR (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Sponsored Candidates. These candidates must apply through Foreign Students’ Advisor (The Office of the Foreign Students Advisor, Room No : 20-21, Old SRK Hostel Building, Gate No : 8, Jamia Millia Islamia, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi – 110025).
Admission Procedure in Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Jamia Millia Islamia
The Jamia Millia Islamia invites On-Line Applications in the month of February/March every year. The candidates need to register & fill the Application On-Line only. The admission is based on the score in an Entrance Test conducted by Jamia Millia Islamia at University Campus (For details visit http://jmi.ac.in/ or http://jmi.ac.in/admissions).

Ph.D. Nanotechnology
Eligibility in Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Jamia Millia Islamia
A Second Class Master’s Degree with not less than 55% marks from a recognized University in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research or in a subject allied thereto.
The candidates who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET/JRF examination or any other equivalent examination conducted by the recognized Govt. Department/ Institute/ Agency/ SLET/ valid GATE Score (with qualifying marks)/ DST – Inspire Fellows. OR The teacher fellowship holders of the recognized College/ University/ Institution, provided that the competent employing authority issues a NOC to the candidate to join Ph.D. Programme OR ICCR-Sponsored candidates.
The Central/ State government/ PSU employee(s) should apply thorough proper channel and should produce NOC at the time of Interview.
Admission Procedure in Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Jamia Millia Islamia
The Jamia Millia Islamia notifies admission to Ph.D. Programs, usually in the month of July each year (For details visit http://jmi.ac.in/ or http://jmi.ac.in/admissions).
Fee Structure of Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Jamia Millia Islamia
The fee for M.Tech. course is Rs. 56,590/- per student per annum.
The Foreign Nationals/ NRI’s who seek admission as Candidates Under General Category have to pay US$ 1500 per annum.
The Foreign Nationals/ NRI’s who seek admission against Supernumerary Seats have to pay US$ 3000 per annum. In addition to that, these candidates have to pay an amount of Rs. 2,000/- as Admission Fee and Rs. 8,000/- as Refundable Security at the time of admission. These candidates are given a concession of US$ 500, if they are from SAARC Countries or they possess proper documentation of “Refugee Status”.
The ICCR Sponsored candidates have to pay the same amount of fee as paid by other regular candidates.
