The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is located at Hauz Khas in South Delhi, bounded by Sri Aurobindo Marg on the East, Jawaharlal Nehru University complex on the West, National Council of Educational Research and Training on the South, and the Outer Ring Road on the North. The Institute Campus is flanked by Qutub Minar & the Hauz Khas Monuments.

The Institute campus is about 10 Km from Domestic Terminal of the Airport, 14 Km from New Delhi Railway Station, 19 Km from Delhi Main Railway Station, 20 Km from lndira Gandhi International Airport. The nearest Metro Station is Hauz Khas.

Type of Institution & Facilities

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi was established in the year 1961 as the College of Engineering & it was affiliated to the University of Delhi. In the year 1963, it was declared an Institution of National Importance under the “Institute of Technology (Amendment) Act 1963” and was renamed ‘Indian Institute of Technology Delhi’.

Eligibility
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subject. The candidate must be among the ‘top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in his/her Boards, category-wise.
Admission Procedure
The admission is based on the score in the JEE (Advanced) Exam conducted jointly by the Indian Institutes of Technology, Indian Institute of Technology-(BHU) and the Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad. The candidate must have appeared in the JEE (Main) Exam conducted by JEE Apex Board of the C.B.S.E. (For details visit www.jeemain.nic.in) and he must be among top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories) who qualify in Paper – I of JEE (Main) to be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced).
The Admission is made by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation. For Full Time Programs:
For Direct Admission without Test/Interview: 75% marks or a CGPA of 8.5/10 in aggregate with GATE score >= 300 or qualifying score whichever is higher (for General/OBC-NCL category candidates), 70% marks or a CGPA of 7.5/10 in aggregate with GATE score >= 200 or qualifying score whichever is higher (for SC/ ST/ PH category candidates).
For Admission with Test/Interview: 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.75/10 in aggregate with GATE score >= 300 or qualifying score whichever is higher (for General/OBC-NCL category candidates), 55% marks or a CGPA of 6.25/10 in aggregate with GATE score >= 200 or qualifying score whichever is higher (for SC/ ST/ PH category candidates). The Qualifying Degree performance is computed by aggregating performance over all the semesters/years of the qualifying degree.
Note : The B.Tech. graduates from the IITs with a CGPA score of 8.0 or above (on scale of 10) are eligible for admission without having to appear in GATE.
For Part-Time/ Sponsored (Full-Time) Programs:
Only employees of PSU’s or Govt. Departments or R & D Organizations or Private Industries (approved by Faculty Boards) are eligible for admission to these programs. The candidates should have a minimum experience of one year after qualifying Degree and as on the date of registration. All the candidates are exempted from GATE requirement. Admission Procedure
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi invites On-Line Applications in the month of March every year. An advertisement is also issued in the Employment News as well as in leading Newspapers. All the candidates are required to register & fill the Application On-Line only. The Institute shortlists and invites a limited number of candidates for a Written Test and/or Interview based on the academic records and GATE score.
