Note 1: The Full-time Sponsored Poly./Engg. College Regular Teachers, Officials of DTEs/BTEs; Full-time Sponsored Working Professionals from Industry/other Organizations including Technical Staff of Universities should have Post qualification experience of at least 1 year (2 years in case of AMIE) in teaching/industry/research organization.
Note 2: Only Sponsored Poly./Engg. College regular teachers, Officials of DTEs/BTEs, Universities and Official/Staff of NITTTRs and Working Professionals from Industry and other Organizations can join M.E. Engineering Education Program.
Note 3: The fresh Engineering Graduate candidates who have appeared in the final semester/year of their B.E./ B.Tech. examinations may also send an advance copy of their Application(s) attaching therewith the detailed marks sheets of all 7 semesters/3 years but must send a copy of their detailed marks sheet of final semester/year on or before the last date of receipt of applications.

A candidate can apply for more than one Program or Category by sending separate Applications along with separate fee & certificates for each Program/Category. The Photocopies of Application form may be used for applying for more than one Program/Category.

The Institute prepares a merit list based on the marks obtained in the qualifying exam & the total experience and invites the candidates for Counselling.
For Fresh Engg. Graduate candidates: The admission is based on the score in the GATE. The vacant seats, thereafter, are filled on the basis of PU-CET (P.G.) Entrance Test conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh and an Interview. For preparing the merit list, 50% weightage is given to PU-CET (P.G.) score & 50% to the Academic Performance (For details visit http://cetpg.puchd.ac.in). The GATE/ PU-CET (P.G.) qualified candidates are required to apply to the Institute in the month of May/June on the Application Form downloaded from (www.nitttrchd.ac.in).
For M.E. Electrical Engg. (Instrumentation & Control)/ M.E. Electronics & Communication Engg. :
For Full-time Sponsored Poly./Engg. The admission of these candidates under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) is based on the score in the GRE. The On-line applications are invited in the month of March/April (For details visit www.dasanit.org/).

Two Academic years comprising of 4 Semesters. The maximum period for completion of the Program including thesis is 3 academic years (6 semesters).

Three & Half Academic years comprising of 7 spells (each spell of 5 weeks duration). The maximum period for completion of the Program including thesis is Five & Half academic years (11 spells).

(i) Only Sponsored Full time regular/Permanent faculty members of AICTE approved Polytechnics can apply for admission. (ii) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent minimum qualification in the appropriate branch of Engineering with minimum teaching experience of 3 years as on the last date of submission of Application form for admission. (iii) A candidate selected for admission under QIP has to execute an undertaking to serve his/her parent Institution for a minimum period of two years after the completion of the program. (iv) The candidate, if selected, should be – Relieved to join the program in time for the session for which he/she is admitted; On deputation once admitted, and his/her normal salary and allowances are to be paid by the Parent Institution. (v) The selected candidate for admission is required to produce the Certificate of Sponsorship from the Principal/Head of the Parent Institutions and submit the same at the time when he/she joins the course. (vi) Computer Programmers, System Programmers, Workshop Staff, Guest Lecturer, Visiting Lecturer, Teaching Assistants, Ad-hoc Appointees, Technical Assistants and Other such categories of Staff are not eligible.
The candidates admitted under QIP (Poly) Scheme are eligible to receive a scholarship and a contingency grant as per AICTE norms.

The Application form, Data sheet and Information Brochure can be downloaded from the Website of NITTTR, Chandigarh (www.nitttrchd.ac.in) & AICTE (www.aicte-india.org/) in the month of December/January. The candidates are required to submit three copies of the duly filled Application forms through proper channel along with relevant documents/certificates & fee. The additional application forms required may be obtained by photocopying.

The merit of the applicants is prepared on the following criteria : (i) 50% weightage is given to the marks obtained in the qualifying exam. (ii) 20% weightage is given to the teaching/industrial/research experience gained after Engineering Graduation. Two marks per year of experience can be awarded with a maximum of 20 marks. (iii) 10% weightage is given for attending the short-term courses sanctioned by QIP/ISTE/AICTE/IMPACT or any other such courses or workshops conducted by QIP Centre of not less than one week. For one-week course 3% marks, for two weeks 6% and for three or more weeks 10% marks is awarded. (iv) 5% weighatge is given for publication of research paper in journals. (v) 5% weightage is given for significant contribution in Community Development Program. (vi) 5% weighatge is given for preparing monographs/book writing/preparing course materials. (vii) 5% weightage is given for the consultancy done for the Industry.

Twenty Four months.

(i) Master’s degree in Engineering Education or Engineering/ Technology/ Management or equivalent in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 6.75 on a 10 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate. (ii) The Sponsorship letter should include an undertaking stating that the period of study will be treated as ‘on duty’ with usual salary, and he/she will be relieved for the period of studies, and, all fees will be paid by the candidate/organization as per Institute rules. (iii) The Full Time candidates as well as Part-time candidates are required to submit a ‘NOC’ at the time of Interview from their employers stating that the candidate is permitted to pursue studies on a Full Time/ Part-time basis and that his/her official duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research and he/she will be fully relieved from duty and permitted to reside at the Institute for a period as per university requirement during his/her registration for the degree.

The Applications are invited from candidates by advertising the Ph.D. Programs on Institute’s Website (www.nitttrchd.ac.in) in the month of 31st May, and 31st December every year. The candidate who has appeared & qualified in the Ph.D. Entrance Examination conducted by the concerned University can apply. The admission to the Ph.D. Programs is made on the basis of the Presentation and/or Interview conducted at the Institute.

The admission to Ph.D. is also possible any time during the year through Institute’s Academic/Research Degree Committee with the approval of the Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh for all categories of scholars. The Institute’s Academic/Research Degree Committee assesses the eligibility of candidates and recommend them for enrollment/registration to the University. The candidates are required to fill-in the application form (enclosed in the Ph.D. Brochure of the concerned University for enrolment/registration. All regulations and rules for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the concerned University are followed.

The minimum duration of the Ph.D. is 3 years from the Date of enrollment/registration subject to a maximum period of 5 years. The extension beyond this period can be granted on the approval of Director of the Institute by the Vice Chancellor of the concerned University.
