For Indian Students (all categories):
For M.E. Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ M.Tech. Micro Electronics: The admission is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted jointly by the IISc and all the IITs.
For M.E. Electrical Engineering (Power System)/ Biotechnology/ M.Tech. Material Science & Technology: The admission is based on the score in the GATE. The seats remaining vacant, thereafter, are filled on the basis of PU-CET (P.G.) Entrance Test conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh and an Interview. The duration of the Entrance Test is 1 hour 30 minutes and it consists of 75 multiple choice questions of one mark each. The syllabus is based broadly on the course contents generally covered during the qualifying exam. For preparing the merit list, 50% weightage is given to PU-CET (P.G.) score & 50% to the Academic Performance (For details visit http://cetpg.puchd.ac.in).
For Foreign Nationals/ PIO/ NRI Students:
These candidates are required to submit their academic certificates as a proof of passing the qualifying exam for each course to which admission is to be sought. They are required to compete amongst themselves for the seats created for them by appearing in the Entrance Test (wherever applicable), if they are in India. However, those living abroad at the time of the Entrance Test are exempted from the Entrance Test. They have to comply with Visa and any other requirements prescribed by the Govt. of India, U.T. Administration, Chandigarh as well as Panjab University, Chandigarh from time to time.
