Passed 10+2 or Class 12th Exam or any other equivalent exam with Language, Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biology/ Biotechnology/ Technical Vocational subject. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks for SC/ST/PwD applicants) in the above subjects taken together.
For Seats under Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme (TFWS) – The candidates should have passed the qualifying examination in 1st class in 60% marks & his/her total family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh per year.

The admission of candidates of all categories including Supernumerary Seats for Kashmiri Migrants & Under TFWS is based on the merit/ rank in the JEE (Main) Paper 1 conducted by National Testing Agency (For details visit www.nta.ac.in or https://jeemain.nta.nic.in). The On-line Counselling for admission is conducted by the Joint Admission Committee (JAC), for which the On-line Registration starts in the month of May/June every year (For details visit http://chdenggadmissions.nic.in/jaccms/public/home.aspx).
Note : The admissions of Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)/ Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) is based on the score in the SAT (For details visit www.dasanit.org/).

For Indian Students (all categories)/ Foreign Nationals/ PIO/ NRI Students:
For M.E. Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology: B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Computer Engg./ Computer Science & Engg./ IT with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.
For M.E. Electronics & Communication Engineering: B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Electronics Engg./ Electronics & Communication Engg./ Electronic & Telecommunication Engg. with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.
For M.E. Mechanical Engineering: B.E./ B.Tech. in Mechanical Engg./ Production Engg. with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.
For M.Tech. Micro Electronics: B.E./ B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Computer Science & Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Electronics Engg./ Microelectronics/ Electronics & Electrical Communications Engg./ Electronics & Telecommunication Engg./ Information Instrumentation Engg. OR M.Sc. in Applied Physics OR M.Sc. Physics (with specialization in Electronics OR M.Sc. in Electronics (as approved by AICTE) with minimum 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab as equivalent thereto.
For M.E. Biotechnology: B.E. in Biotechnology with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab as equivalent thereto.
For M.E. Electrical Engineering (Power System): B.E./ B.Tech. in Electrical Engg./ Electrical & Electronics Engg. with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.
For M.Tech. Material Science & Technology: B.E./ B.Tech. in Mechanical Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Electrical & Electronics Engg./ Civil Engg./ Production Engg. OR M.Sc. in Physics/ Chemistry with 60% marks in aggregate from Panjab University or any other University recognized by Panjab University as equivalent thereto.

For Indian Students (all categories):
For M.E. Computer Science & Engineering/ Information Technology/ Electronics & Communication Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ M.Tech. Micro Electronics: The admission is based on the score in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted jointly by the IISc and all the IITs.
For M.E. Electrical Engineering (Power System)/ Biotechnology/ M.Tech. Material Science & Technology: The admission is based on the score in the GATE. The seats remaining vacant, thereafter, are filled on the basis of PU-CET (P.G.) Entrance Test conducted by Panjab University, Chandigarh and an Interview. The duration of the Entrance Test is 1 hour 30 minutes and it consists of 75 multiple choice questions of one mark each. The syllabus is based broadly on the course contents generally covered during the qualifying exam. For Foreign Nationals/ PIO/ NRI Students:
These candidates are required to submit their academic certificates as a proof of passing the qualifying exam for each course to which admission is to be sought. They are required to compete amongst themselves for the seats created for them by appearing in the Entrance Test (wherever applicable), if they are in India. However, those living abroad at the time of the Entrance Test are exempted from the Entrance Test. They have to comply with Visa and any other requirements prescribed by the Govt. of India, U.T. Administration, Chandigarh as well as Panjab University, Chandigarh from time to time.
