Location of Bharatpur:
The District of Bharatpur is situated in Rajasthan State of Northwestern India. It is 5066 Sq. Km. in area. It is surrounded by District Dholpur on the South, Districts Karauli and Dausa on the Southwest, District Alwar on the Northwest, Districts Rewari and Gurgaon of Haryana State on the North and Districts Mathura and Agra of Uttar Pradesh State on the East. The City of Bharatpur is the headquarter of this District.
This District was founded by Maharaja Suraj Mal in the Year 1733 A.D. and was earlier known as Mewat. It was renamed as Bharatpur after Bharat, the brother of Lord Rama of Ramayana Period. It is also Known as ‘Eastern Gateway of Rajasthan’. This District is famous for ivory and sandalwood products and also for Wildlife Sancturies.
This District has been divided into 10 Tehsils –
Tehsils – Bayana, Roopwas, Weir, Bharatpur, Deeg, Nagar, Kaman, Pahari, Nadbai, Kumher
Climate of Bharatpur:
This District experiences quite variations in its seasons and is very hot in summers and very cold in winters. This District experiences three main Seasons:
- Summer – From April to June when the maximum temperature rises to as high as 49°C, making the heat quite unbearable and the minimum temperature remains around 32°C. The month of June is the hottest one.
- Monsoon – From July to September when average temperature falls to around 28oC bringing some respite from the extreme climatic conditions of Bharatpur, but the humidity level remains around 70%.
- Winter – From October to March when the maximum temperature remains about 21°C. The minimum temperature recorded is around 3.5°C. Fog and mist is a normal feature of the weather in the month of January.
