Location of Temple Mata Ganga Ji:

This Temple is situated at a distance of 4 Km from Bharatpur Railway Station and Main Bus Stand inside Lohagarh Fort in Bharatpur City, District Bharatpur, Rajasthan.

History of Temple Mata Ganga Ji:

Raja Balwant Singh (1826-53 A.D.), a Jat ruler of Bharatpur did not have any issue, So Shri Hardevji Maharaj suggested him to build a Temple dedicated to Mata Ganga Ji to get blessed with a son. Its construction was started in the year 1845 and was completed in 1937. Raja Balwant Singh did not take any contributions from outside, but deducted some amount from the salaries of his employees.

Architecture of the Temple:

It’s entrance is located towards the window of the main Palace of the Fort. The two-storeyed Temple is built of Bansi Pahadpur stone of almond colour. Its pillars and panels have artistic carvings. Its main gate on one side has a statue of Lord Krishna holding mountain Giriraj in his hand, while the other side has statues of Laxmi-Narayanji and Shiv-Parvatiji. The statue of Goddess Mata Ganga Ji sitting on the back of a crocodile is installed inside Sanctum Sanctorum and is made of marble. A four feet high statue of King Bhagiratha, a great devotee of Mata Ganga Ji is installed on one side.

Visiting Hours in the Temple:

The Temple remains open on all Days from 5.00 A.M. to 10.00 P.M.
