Location of the Baori:

This Baori (step well) is located near choughan gate at the centre of Bundi City, District Bundi, Rajasthan.

History of the Baori:

It was got built for the welfare of the people in 1885 A.D. by Chandar Bhan Kunwar, the Queen of Maharao Raja Ram Singh (the ruler of Bundi between 1821-1889 A.D.).

Architecture of the Baori:

It is a combination of two step wells – earlier known as Ganga Sagar and Yamuna Sagar. Both the Baories are known for their unique architecture and are 60 feet in depth. The beauty of these Baories lies in their steps. Both the Baories are surrounded by Chhatries built of marble having carvings of plants, creepers and pots on their pillars. The idols of Goddess Gajalakshmi, Goddess Sarasvati and Lord Ganesha are also installed here.
