Location of Rani Ji Ki Baori:

This Baori (a step well) is located at the centre of the Bundi City, District Bundi, Rajasthan.

History of the Baori:

It is one the best step wells in Asian Continent. This magnificent Baori was got constructed in 1699 A.D. by Queen Nathavati, the wife of Rao Raja Anirudhav Singh (1681-1695 A.D.).

Architecture of the Baori:

It is 46m in depth and has beautiful carvings on its pillars, gates and arches. This artistic Baori has three entrance gates. The major attractions of this Baori are the beautifully carved panels of Dasha Avtar – the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu – Varah, Kurma, Mastya, Vaman, Narsingh, Parshuram, Rama, Krishna, Buddha and Kalki. It has more than 100 steps to reach the water level. Now it has been renovated and gardens have been laid on all the four sides of the Baori. This Baori is being maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.
