First Year of Engineering & Technology:
Passed H.S.C. Exam of the (10+2) curriculum (Academic stream) prescribed by the Government of Tamil Nadu or Any Other Exam equivalent thereto with minimum of 45% marks (40% marks for ST/ SC applicants) in aggregate of subjects – Mathematics, Physics, and any one of the following optional subjects : Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Biology (Botany & Zoology) OR An Exam of any University or Authority recognized by the executive Council of the Pondicherry University as equivalent thereto.
The candidate should not have completed 21 years of age as on 1st July of the academic year under consideration. In the case of SC/ST applicants, the age limit is relaxable by 3 years.
Direct Second Year (Lateral Entry):
Pass in Three year Diploma or Four year Sandwich Diploma course in Engineering/ Technology from AICTE approved Institution with at least 45% marks (40% marks for OBC/ SC/ ST applicants) in aggregate in the subjects covered from 3rd to final semester OR Pass in B.Sc. Degree from a recognized University as defined by UGC with at least 45% marks (40% marks for OBC/ SC/ ST applicants) and passed XII Std. with Mathematics as a subject provided further that, the students belonging to B.Sc. Stream are considered only after filling the superannuary seats in this category with students belonging to the Diploma stream. There is no age limit.

Four Academic years comprising of 8 Semesters, Three Academic years comprising of 6 Semesters for lateral entry candidates.

10th Pass with 35% in Mathematics & Science from CBSE (4.0 CGPA and above in Maths & Science) or its equivalent recognized Board or Institution. (In case the applicant has qualified both 10th & 12th the highest marks score (aggregate of Maths, Physics & Chemistry) in any one of the exam OR 12th Pass with 45% in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry from recognized Board or Institution.

Three Academic years comprising of 6 Semesters.

For Diploma in HMCT: Passed 12th Standard and should have obtained at least 35% marks in the qualifying exam. There is no age limit.
For Trade Diploma: Passed 10th Standard and should have obtained at least 35% marks in the qualifying exam. There is no age limit.
For OCCP: The candidate should be Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate holder in Hotel and Hospitality Administration/ Hotel Management and Catering Technology OR Catering OR Culinary Arts OR Hospitality & Tourism of minimum 6 months duration from an Institution recognized by State Boards/ UGC approved Universities/ NCHMCT/ AICTE. AND the candidate should have passed 10th or 12th Std. from a recognized Board with minimum 40% marks in aggregate. The candidate should also have secured minimum 40% marks in English. The candidate should be 18 to 28 years of age at the time of commencement of course. The Physical standards are as per DG Shipping norms.

Three Academic years comprising of 6 Semesters for Diploma in HMCT; One & Half years for Trade Diploma; and

For PDME: Diploma in Mechanical Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Marine Engg. with 50% marks in aggregate from a Board or Institution recognized and approved by AICTE and 50% marks in English subject in class 10th/ 12th. The age of the candidate should not be more than 28 years on the date of commencement of course. The Physical standards are as per DG Shipping norms.
For DNS: 10+2 with 60% marks in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Maths from a recognized Board & 50% marks in English either in Class X or XII. OR Graduation in Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Electronics with 55% marks from a recognized University & 50% marks in English either in Class X or XII or Graduation. OR Graduation in Engineering from a recognized University & 50% marks in English either in Class X or XII or Graduation. The age of the candidate should not be more than 25 years on the date of commencement of course. The Physical standards are as per DG Shipping norms. Eye sight should be: 6/6 without spectacles and contact lenses.
For GPR: 10th Pass with 40% aggregate in Maths/ Science & 40% aggregate in English. The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 & half years and not more than 25 years on the date of commencement of course. The Physical standards are as per DG Shipping norms.
