Location of Tazia Tower:

This delicate Pagoda-like tower is located near Amar Sagar Gate inside the Badal Palace Complex in the heart of Jaisalmer City, District Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

History of Tazia Tower:

It was built in 1886 A.D. during the reign of Maharawal Berisal Singh by the Muslim craftsmen in the shape of a Tazia (a float taken in procession Muharram) as a symbol of their religion.

Architecture of Tazia Tower:

The impressive designs, beautiful minarets and splendid architecture of this tower make it one of the most attractive structures in Jaisalmer. It is a five-storied tower with each storey having a artistically designed and magnificently carved balcony. The elegant carvings on the walls and ceilings of each floor of this tower reflect the rich artistic creativity and imaginative skills of the local craftsmen of that period.

A part of the Badal Palace has been converted into a Heritage Hotel named Mandir Palace, while another portion of the Palace, named Badal Vilas, is occupied by the royal family.

Visiting Hours in the Tower:

It remains open from morning hours till 5.00 P.M.
