This beautiful artificial lake is located at a distance of 6 Km West of Jaisalmer City on the way to Lodurva town, District Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.
History & Attractions of Amar Sagar:
It was developed in 1688 A.D. in the form of a water reservoir by Maharawal Amar Singh, the then ruler of Jaisalmer. The dams were constructed to hold rainwater and several terraces were formed where the gardens were laid and Summer Palaces and Temples were built. The Palace of Amar Singh is located adjacent to it where the rulers of Jaisalmer used to come in Summer to escape the heat of the city. An exquisitely carved Adeshwar Nath Jain Temple constructed in 1928 A.D. by Himmat Ram Bafna, a descendant of the famous Patwas, is situated on the South of the lake.
