This Fort is located at the centre of Churu City, District Churu, Rajasthan.
History of Churu Fort:
It is believed to have been built by Thakur Khushal Singh in the year 1739 A.D. One interesting incident is associated with this Fort. In the year 1871 A.D., the Rathores of Bikaner attacked this Fort. When all the Copper and Brass cannon shells of the Churu forces got exhausted, the Thakur Sheoji Singh of this Fort asked all the women to part with their silver ornaments. Then this metal was used to prepare shells for the cannons, which were then used in the battle. Though, in the end, the Fort was captured by the forces of Bikaner.
This incident not only depicts that this Fort was captured by the forces of Bikaner, but very importantly highlights the spirit of the Churu ruler to remain independent and live with honour, no matter what happens.
