It was built in 1770 A.D. by Maharao Raja Ummaid Singh (1749-1770 A.D. and 1773-1804 A.D.) as a royal hunting lodge and as a residence away from the hustle and bustle of the City, when he left the throne for his son Ajit Singh (1770-1773 A.D.). It has now been converted into a popular picnic spot.
