The National Institute of Technology Meghalaya was established as an “Institute of National Importance’ by the Govt. of India in the year 2010 & is fully funded by the Govt. of India under the Ministry of HRD.
The National Institute of Technology Meghalaya has Library and Book Bank facility, Five Boys’ hostel and two Girl’s hostel, Residential facilities for faculty and non-teaching, Health Centre; Power backup facility in the Academic Campus and the Hostels; Facilities like Banking, Post Office & Book shops are available within 1 Km of the academic Campus; Students Council.

Master’s Degree in appropriate branch of Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s Degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. The candidates with B.E./ B.Tech. Degree with an aggregate of 75% marks or an equivalent CGPA with valid GATE score are also eligible. For those applying for Ph.D. in Humanities and Social Sciences, minimum 55% marks should have been obtained in the Master’s Degree. The eligibility criteria is relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PD applicants.
