Passed Class X/ Matriculation/ Secondary exam or an equivalent exam with Science and Mathematics. The candidates should have passed in all the subjects including Science & Mathematics separately. The maximum age limit is 19 years for General (GE) category candidates; 22 years for OBC & female applicants and 24 years for ST/ SC/ PD applicants as on 31 July of the Entrance Examination Year.

The admission is based on the score in the NERIST Entrance Exam Level-I (NEE-I) conducted by this University at various centres located in the Eight North Eastern States of India (For details visit www.nerist.ac.in or www.neeonline.ac.in/).

Two Academic years comprising of 4 semesters.

(i) Passed in 10+2 (PCM)/ Higher Secondary (PCM) with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized board of Education. These candidates are eligible to appear in NEE-II (PCM).
(ii) Passed in 10+2 (Vocational)/ ITI/ NERIST Certificate in any one of the branches/ trades, viz., [Agricultural Engineering – Farm Equipment (FE)/ Food Processing (FP)]; [Civil Engineering – Construction Technology i.e. Draftsmanship/ Surveyor (CT)]; [Electronics and Communications Engineering – Electronics Technology or Electronics Maintenance (ET/EM)]; [Electrical Engineering – Electrical Technology or Electrical Maintenance (ET/EM)]; [Mechanical Engineering – Mechanical Craftsmanship (MC)/ Automobile Technology (AT)/ Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (R&AC)]. These candidates are eligible to appear in NEE-II (Vocational).
(iii) Passed in 10+2 (PCB)/ Higher Secondary (PCB) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from a recognized board of Education. These candidates are eligible to appear in NEE-II (PCB) for admission in Four Years’ Degree Program in Forestry.
The maximum age limit for NEE-II (PCM)/ NEE-II (Vocational)/ NEE-II (PCB) is 23 years for General (GE) category candidates; 26 years for OBC & female applicants and 28 years for ST/ SC/ PD category candidates as on 31 July of the Entrance Examination Year.

Two Academic years comprising of 4 semesters for Diploma courses, Four Academic years comprising of 8 Semesters for Degree in Forestry.

Passed the 3-year Diploma course from any Government recognized Polytechnic/ Institution in the respective or allied Discipline/ Branch with a minimum of 60% marks considering aggregate marks of all the three years’ together or CGPA of 3.0 on a 5 point scale OR NERIST Diploma Module with a minimum CGPA of 3.0. The maximum age limit is 40 years for General (GE) category candidates; 43 years for OBC & female applicants and 45 years for ST/ SC/ PD applicants as on 31 July of the Entrance Exam Year.

The admission is open to all Indian Nationals. NRI’s & foreign students are also allowed for the admission provided they fulfil eligibility criteria and obtain clearance from Govt. of India. The candidates should have scored 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.50 on a 10.00 point scale in the qualifying exam with valid GATE score. 5% marks relaxation is given to SC/ ST/ PWD applicants.

The candidates with valid GATE score are given additional weightage during selection process. However, the candidates without GATE score are also considered, subject to availability of seats. For Ph.D. in Engineering: Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology with 60% marks in aggregate or a CGPA of 6.50 on 10.00 point scale and For Ph.D. in Sciences/ Humanities & Management: 55% marks in aggregate in Sciences/ Humanities/ Management. 5% marks relaxation is given to SC/ ST/ PWD applicants in both the cases. The North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology invites applications for admission in the months of March/April. The candidates are short-listed based on their academic record and their names are displayed on the Institute’s Notice Board, Departmental Notice Board and Institute’s Website. The short-listed candidates are required to appear in the Written Test and/or Interview conducted by the concerned Department/ Center. The applicants, who wish to pursue Ph.D. while in employment/ service, need to submit NOC from their employer along with the application form. The NET/ GATE score is not essential. However, additional weightage is given during selection of candidates with valid GATE/ NET score. For Ph.D. in Mathematics, additional weightage is given for NET/ SLET/ GATE/ CAT/ MAT or equivalent recognized Tests. Those with NET (for JRF/GATE) are also eligible for scholarship subject to availability of fund sanctioned by Govt. of India. For M.Sc. Physics: B.Sc. with minimum 55% marks in aggregate in Pass Course in Physics and 50% marks for major/honors in Physics with Mathematics as one of the subjects.
For M.Sc. Chemistry: B.Sc in Chemistry with Mathematics having 55% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in Chemistry subjects.
For M.Sc. Mathematics: B.Sc. with 55% in aggregate for Pass course and 50% marks in Honours/ Major subject.
For M.Sc. Forestry: 4 year Bachelor of Science in Forestry with a CGPA of 6.50 on a 10.00 point scale or 60% marks in aggregate.

The admission is open to all Indian Nationals. NRI’s & foreign students are also allowed for the admission provided they fulfil eligibility criteria and obtain clearance from Govt. of India.
For Part Time Course: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with 55% marks in aggregate. The candidate must be working in Govt. office or any reputed organization with minimum 3 year’s working experience.

The CAT/ MAT qualified candidates are exempted from the Written Test only.
