Location of Shri Nandiya Tirath:

This ancient Temple is also known as Nandishvara Chaitya. It is situated at a distance of 6 Km from Village Bamanwada and 13 Km from Sirohi City amidst hills outside Village Nandiya, District Sirohi, Rajasthan.

History of Shri Nandiya Tirath:

It is dedicated to Lord Mahavir Ji, the 24th Tirthankar of Jains.

It is said that this Village was established by Nandi Vardhan, the elder brother of Lord Mahavir Ji and was known as Nandivardhan and Nandigram. It is a beautiful Village surrounded by seven hills of Aravalli Ranges.

Architecture of Shri Nandiya Tirath:

The 210 cm high idol of Lord Mahavir Ji is white coloured and is seated in Padmasana. The idol is very ancient and rare and is called living God. It is believed that it was installed here during the life time of Lord Mahavir Ji by his brother Nandi Vardhan. It is so beautiful, lustrous, attractive and artistic that devotees feel the presence of God. All the 52 idols of the Temple are bright and have unique beautiful artistry. The stone inscriptions on the pillars of the Temple belong to the period between 1073 – 1153 A.D. and show the antiquity of this place.

A small Temple is located on the hill near this Temple. The idols of Lord Mahavir’s feet and a figure of snake are carved there. It is said that the snake named Chandkaushik had bitten Lord Mahavir at this place and it was here that Lord Mahavir gave sermons to the snake.
