History of the Temple:

This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed to have been built during the reign of Parmar rulers because its architecture resembles with other Temples built by them. In 1469 A.D., Queen Apurva Devi installed an idol of Lord Hanuman outside the main gate of the Temple. The Temple was further ornamented in 1628 A.D. by Maharao Akheyraj.

Architecture of the Temple:

The Temple is encircled by two courtyards – one courtyard surrounds the main Temple, while the second courtyard surrounds the whole area. The campus of the main Temple has idols of Lord Vishnu and a plate containing 108 Shiv Lingas. The second courtyard has Burj and chaukies giving a look of fort to the Temple. Three huge elephants made of lime and brick and painted with colours are located outside the main gate of the Temple. The cenotaphs of the royal family are also located inside the Temple complex.
