History of Mirpur Temple:

This Temple is dedicated to Lord Parshavnath, the 23rd Tirthankar of Jains.

It is considered to be the oldest marble monument in the State of Rajasthan. An inscription here indicates that it was built by King Samprata. It’s ancient art served as a model for the later Delwara and Ranakpur Temples and is mentioned in ‘World Encyclopedia of Art’. It was destroyed in the 13th Century A.D. by Mahmood Begda of Gujarat and was rebuilt and renovated in the 15th Century A.D.

Architecture of Mirpur Temple:

The artistry of this Temple is beyond description, is famous throughout the World and is considered to be unmatched by many. The artistry displayed here on the summit leaves behind even that of the Temples of Mount Abu. The artistic designs on the pillars, domes, gumbaj, and torans indicate the age of this Temple to be more than 1000 years. The carving of elephants seems to be the matchless work of art of the times of Pallava. The sculpted elephants support the corners and sides of the plinth of this Temple. The figures of Yaksha, Gandharvas, Gods and Goddesses all around are splendidly carved.

The ancient idol of Lord Parshavnath is seated in Padmasana on a large marble platform. It is white coloured, has finely carved hands and feet and it depicts Lord Parshavnath’s victory over his biggest enemy, Karnatha.
