Location of Temple Shri Chauth Mata:
This Temple is situated at a distance of 25 Km from Sawai Madhopur City on the top of a hill near Choth Ka Barwara town, District Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan.
History of Temple Shri Chauth Mata:
It is dedicated to Goddess Chauth Mata. It was built in 1451 A.D. by Raja Bhim Singh Chauhan, the then ruler. He was a great devotee of Chauth Mata. One day in his dream Chauth Mata instructed him to build a Temple in Barwara. So Raja Bhim Singh built the cave Temple on the highest mountain of Aravalli ranges and the Village was renamed as Choth Ka Barwara. In 1682 A.D., Shri Tej Singh Rathore got built the walls of the Temple and another ruler Shri Jawahar Singh installed the statue of Lord Ganesha towards the West of Chauth Mata.
Architecture of the Temple:
This huge double-storeyed Temple is built of sand, RCC, stone and cement. There is a flight of 700 steps to reach the Temple. The Sanctum Sanctorum is square shaped raised on RCC pillars. The idol of the Goddess seated on a lion is made of white marble. Another idol of Lord Ganesha is installed nearby. An idol of Bhairu Ji is installed on the back towards left.
