History & Architecture of Kala-Gaura Bhairwa Temple:
This Temple is dedicated to two Bhairav brothers – Kala Bhairav and Gaura Bhairav whose idols have been installed inside the main Temple unlike other Temples where their idols are placed at the entrance.
It was built by cutting a hillock. In this Temple ‘Tantric Kriya’ is still practiced. It is believed that all the wishes of the devotees are fulfilled here. In the year 1299 A.D., King Hammir Dev Chauhan of Ranthmbor Fort gave shelter to Muhammad Shah, a rebel General of Sultan Ala-ud-din-khilzi (1296-1316 A.D.). When Sultan Ala-ud-din-Khilzi attacked Ranthambor, King Hammir Dev Chauhan visited this Temple and vowed that if he wins the war, he would devote everything to the Temple. But ironically he had to behead himself even after winning the war due to some confusion.
The idols of Lord Ganesha, Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva have also been installed here.
