It is 4 miles in length, 1.75 miles in width, has a depth of about 60 feet and a catchment area of about 508 Sq. Km. The river Gomati is the chief supplier of water to this lake. A part of its banks has beautifully carved pavilions known as ‘Nauchowki’ having 27 stone slabs. The stairs, beautiful gates and Mandap are made of artistically carved marble and are adorned with sculptures.
