Location of the Temple:

This Temple is also known as Shri Hathundi Rata Mahavir Jain Temple. It is situated at a distance of 20 Km from Javaibandh Railway Station, 32 Km from Ranakpur Jain Temple, 28 Km from Falna City and 3 Km from Bijapur, among the hills in District Pali, Rajasthan.

History of the Temple:

This Temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavir, the 24th Tirthankar of Jains.

There is historical evidence to prove that this Temple was built in the year 313 A.D by Shri Viradeva Shreshthis. In the year 916 A.D., it was repaired and renovated by Vidagadha, the son of King Harivardhana. It was again renovated in the year 1949 A.D.

Architecture of the Temple:

The Temple has the old 4th Century idol. The idol of Lord Mahavir Ji is red-colored, 135 cm in height and is seated in Padmasana posture. Here under the idol of Lord Mahavir Ji, there is mark of a Ashtapada lion with the face of an Elephant. Perhaps, this is the reason why the city was named ‘Hastikundi’.

The Temple provides boarding and lodging facilities. A huge fair is held here every year on the thirteenth day of the month of Chaitra.
