This Museum is located inside the Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur City, District Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

It has a number of Galleries displaying antique and rare items belonging to the erstwhile rulers of Marwar-Jodhpur like :
- The Elephant Howdah Gallery – This gallery displays elephant seats from the Royal Collection. The most prized possession of this gallery is a silver Howdah presented to Maharaja Jaswant Singh I (1638-78 A.D.) by the Mughal Emperor Shahjahan, as a mark of special honor.
- The Palanquin Gallery – This gallery has one of the richest collections of Palanquins in Rajasthan State. The covered palanquins known as Pinjas are beautifully decorated with lacquer paintwork and were used by royal ladies. The open Palanquins known as Rajat Khasa are the beautiful lotus shaped royal silver palanquins used by the Maharajas.
- Daulat Khana – The Gallery of Treasures – It houses the Mahadol, a Palanquin which was brought to Mewar when Maharaja Abhaya Singh defeated the Mughal Governor of Gujarat in 1730 A.D., Two rare Chiq Screens which were used in Summers to cool down the air, A sword of the Mughal Emperor Akbar dating back to 1560 A.D. and an ivory cosmetic chest.
- Weapons Gallery – This Gallery has a rare collection of armour and weapons belonging to the rulers of Jodhpur. The collection includes Swords and Daggers with hilts of jade, silver, rhinoceros horn, ivory, Shields studded with rubies, emeralds and pearls, Guns with delicate gold and silver, and other rare and unusual instruments of war. The gallery also has personal swords of many Maharajas and Emperor including the Khanda of Rao Jodha, weighing over 7 pounds and the sword of the Mughal Emperor Akbar.
- The Painting Gallery – This Gallery displays a large and finest collection of Miniature Paintings and from the Marwar School.
- The Cradle Gallery – It is located in Jhanki Mahal and has a collection of several cradles.
- The Turbans Gallery – It displays and preserves many different types of turbans once prevalent in the State of Rajasthan.
