Location of the Fort:

This Fort is located at a distance of 43 Km from Jhunjhunu City in town Surajgarh, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.

History of the Fort:

It was built in 1780 A.D. by Suraj Mal Shekhawat, the ruler of Jhunjhunu. Its name literally means ‘The Castle of The Sun’.

Architecture of the Fort:

It is spread over an area of 4 acres. It is adorned with beautiful frescoes made with crushed cowrie shells, lime and vegetable dyes. The construction of this Fort had led to the establishment of the town of Surajgarh.

Visiting Hours in the Fort:

It has now been converted into a Heritage Hotel.
