These Havelies are located in Jhunjhunu City, District Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan.
History & Architecture of Famous Havelies of Jhunjhunu :
Their typical Rajasthani architecture shows some Western influence. These exquisite Havelies which once belonged to rich and affluent traders are famous for their colorful murals, intricate frescoes, elaborate wall paintings and miniature paintings on the ceilings.
- The Modi Haveli – It is located in main bazaar and was built in 1895 A.D. It is adorned with fine murals and excellent wall paintings with one showing a lady sitting in front of a Gramophone.
- The Kaniram Narsinghdas Tibrewala Haveli – It is located in main bazaar and was built in 1883 A.D. It has a large courtyard surrounded by corridors that lead to another larger courtyard which is surrounded by verandahs that lead to rooms. It is decorated with splendid fresco art, fine murals, excellent wall paintings. One wall painting shows a goods train with livestock crossing a passenger train. Some of the frescoes are made in gold.
- The Ishwardas Mohandas Haveli – It has a huge wooden gate at the entrance which opens into a courtyard that leads to another smaller courtyard which then leads to rooms lined with verandahs. It is famous for its excellent wall paintings depicting the legends of Lord Krishna. These paintings are an excellent example of the magnificent craftsmanship that developed in this region in the late 18th Century A.D.
- The Narudin Farooqi Haveli – It is adorned with floral motifs in Muslim style.
