This Temple is situated at a distance of 34 Km from Jhalawar City and 3 Km from Khanpur town on the banks of river Rupli in town Chandkheri, District Jhalawar, Rajasthan.
History of Shri Digambar Jain Temple:
This Temple is dedicated to Digambar Jain Lord Adinath Ji, the 1st Tirthankar of Jain and other Jain deities are Lord Chandraprabhu (the 8th Tirthankar of Jain), Lord Parshavnath (the 23rd Tirthankar of Jain), Lord Suparshvanath (the 7th Tirthankar of Jain), Lord Sambhavnath (the 3rd Tirthankar of Jain), Jain Siddha Bahubali Ji (son of Lord Adinath Ji), Yakshi Ambika and other 907 Jain images.
It was built in 1689 A.D. by Kota Estate Deevan Kishan Das Ji Bhadiya Bandherwal, so that Jain devotees could perform their rituals here.
Architecture of Shri Digambar Jain Temple:
The Temple is built of sand stone and lime mortar and has such small gates that one has to sit and bend his head to find an entry. These gates are the great specimen of architecture.
This Temple has many underground shrines decorated with gems. The idols of Jain Tirthankaras are installed here. These idols are protected by Gods and the gates of these shrines are opened nearly after five years to a few for a very limited time. The Temple is square-shaped. The red stone idol of Lord Adinath in Padmasana posture is installed in a basement 12 feet underground. This miraculous idol is 6.25 feet in height, is marked 455 A.D. and has a ‘Srivatsa Sign’ on the chest. A pillar with 52 images of Tirthankaras on each side (total 208 images) called ‘Bawan Jinalaya’ (52 Jains) is located at this temple.
