History of the Temple:
It is dedicated to Lord Varaha, the 3rd incarnation of Lord Vishnu having the body of a man and head of a Boar. He had appeared on this Earth to kill the demon Hiranyaksha who had taken the Earth to the bottom of the cosmic ocean. Lord Varaha fought a battle with the demon and killed him and thus brought the Earth back to its earlier position in the universe.
