History of Neelkanth Mahadev Temple Jalore:

This Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is said that one widow lady saw a Shiva lingam here and she regularly started praying it. Her family members tried hard to bury it but it appeared again and again out of earth along with sand and in this way the huge mound was formed. Thinking the idol to be miraculous, the Temple was built here.

It is said that the army of Sultan Ala-ud-din Khilji attacked Jalore and tried to destroy Shiva Lingam. But they were attacked instead by black bees and the soldiers ran away. Then the Sultan prayed mercy from Lord Shiva and promised to build a grand Temple at the place. His prayer was listened and he kept his promise by constructing the Temple.
