Location of the Fort:
This Fort in ruined state is located on the banks of River Chambal at a distance of 5 Km South of Dholpur City, District Dholpur, Rajasthan.
History of the Fort:
It was built by Raja Maldev, a ruler of Dholpur in around 1532 A.D. It was reconstructed in 1540 A.D. by Sher Shah Suri, the founder of Suri dynasty and hence has been named after him.
Architecture of the Fort:
Many old Cannons made of Ashtadhatu and weighing around 25 tonnes have been placed here on the walls of the Fort. One such Cannon named ‘Hanuhunkar’ has been moved to Indira Park. It is 19 feet long and 10 feet in width. All these Cannons are decorated with Mughal style beautiful carvings.
