History & Architecture of Tomb Ravidas Ji:

He was born in 1378 A.D. to Father Mann Das and Mother Dhurbinia alias Karama Devi at Village Kahi. His Father worked as a cobbler which was considered a low caste at that time. But due to his strong devotion and love for God he achieved the supreme spiritual position and the people from all the four castes fell at his feat. He had such a firm faith in God that he ultimately achieved oneness with the Lord.

He spread the message of love for mankind and propagated the ideals of equality and equity among the masses. Once he showed to a Brahmin, the holy river Ganges flowing in the bowl in which he used to dip the leather to soften it for shoe making. The Great devotee named Meera Bai also became his disciple. He lived to a ripe age of 151 years and died in 1529 A.D. at Chitttorgarh. An umbrella-shaped tomb has been built in his memory. A total of 40 holy hymns composed by Ravidas Ji have been included in Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
