Location of Kumbha Shyam Temple:

This ancient Temple is situated near Fateh Prakash Palace inside Chittorgarh Fort in Chittorgarh City, District Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

History of the Temple:

It was built in the 8th Century A.D. and was renovated in 1449 A.D. by Maharana Kumbha. It is dedicated to Lord Varaha, the 3rd incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the form of a boar.

Architecture of the Temple:

Its design is based on Indo-Aryan style of architecture and is built on a raised platform just like the Kalika Mata Temple. It comprises of an open passageway, the Ardh Mandapa, the Mandapa and the Sanctum Sanctorum. The remarkable feature of the Temple is the pyramid-shaped roof and a huge tower. Its walls are adorned with carved sculptures. It also displays the images of various Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The archways are beautifully built with intersection of loops and designs. The image of Garuda facing the Temple stands under the canopy.
