Location of Bassi Fort:
This Fort is located on Udaipur-Chittorgarh-Bundi-Kota National Highway 76 at a distance of 24 Km from Chittorgarh City and 20 Km from town Bijaipur in District Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.
History of the Fort:
It was built in the 16th Century A.D. by Thakur Jaimal of Sisodia dynasty, the cousin of Maharana Pratap and the founder of Bassi principality. He was a great warrior who fought many battles and has many brilliant victories to his credit. This Fort has witnessed the immortal episodes of sacrifice and heroism of its occupants who laid down their lives defending Mewar and the famous Chittorgarh Fort.
Architecture of the Fort:
It is built amidst picturesque Vindhyachal hills overlooking the Orai and Bassi Lakes and has towering gates, huge battlements, domes, arches, corridors and palaces. It is surrounded by landscaped multilevel lush green gardens with numerous waterfalls and sprawling lawns visited by humming birds and Peacocks in the mornings. It also has the rare and the most sacred tree ‘Kalp Vriksha’ which is believed to fulfill all the wishes.
Visiting Hours in the Fort:
This Fort has now been converted into a Heritage Hotel.
