Location of Temple of Shri Keshavrai Ji:
This Temple is situated at a distance of 45 Km from Bundi City on the banks of river Chambal in Keshoraipatan town, District Bundi, Rajasthan.
History of Temple of Shri Keshavrai Ji:
This Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Raja Ranti Deo of Bundi was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. So Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of two idols – one of Shri Keshavji in white stone and the other of Shri Charbhuja Nath Ji in black Stone. Raja Ranti Deo started building the temple in 1250 A.D., but due to political upheavals the construction work was completed in four generations. Finally the work was completed in the year 1641 A.D. by Rao Raja Chhatrasal Singh (1632-1658 A.D.).
Architecture of Temple of Shri Keshavrai Ji:
The Temple has been built on a strong and very big platform. The shikhar which is on the square-shaped Sanctum Sanctorum is very high, pyramid shaped and built in the South Indian style. It has images of Gods and Goddesses, nymphs and fairies, Yakshas and Gandharvas, the floral patterns, images of animals and demons carved on it. The Shikhar appears to be four storeyed one, because inf every story there is a shrine like projection on the front within which images of Gods and Goddesses have been incurved. The uppermost portion, tapers off and on the top there is a Kalash. The other shikhar which is on the Jagmohan is round shaped.
The interior of the Jagmohan also has beautiful design in which circular patterns have been drawn and joining these circles interlacing patterns have also been made. Again images of Gods and Goddesses are shown in these circles. The idol of Shri Keshav Ji has been installed on a silver layer covered wooden seat. The outer portion of the temple is of two storeys, over which canopies in the typical Rajasthani style have been built. The immaculate sculpture and architecture makes the Temple magnificent.
The main entrance to the Temple is also beautifully built based on the typical architecture of the medieval times. On the walls, the images of various Gods and Goddesses have been incurved.
