Location of Sukh Mahal Bundi:

This stunning and airy Summer Palace of the erstwhile rulers of Bundi is located at a distance of about 5 Km from Bundi City on the banks of Jait Sagar Lake in District Bundi, Rajasthan.

History of the Palace:

It was got built by Rao Raja Vishnu Singh (1804-1823 A.D.), the ruler of Bundi.

Architecture of the Palace:

It has lush green finely manicured garden and is surrounded by Aravalli ranges of mountains. It stands 300 meters above the City level. It is said that this Palace is connected by an underground tunnel to the Garh Palace. The major attraction of the Palace is a white marble Chhatri which stands on the roof of the second storey of the Palace. The famous writer Rudyard Kipling had stayed here for a few days in the 1880’s and wrote a part of his book ‘Kim’. So this Palace is sometimes called ‘Kipling Palace’.

Now, it has been converted into a heritage hotel having two suites overlooking the Lake.
