Location of Barmer Fort Ruins:
The ruins of the Barmer Fort are located on the top of a 675 feet high hill towards the Western corner of the Barmer City, District Barmer, Rajasthan.
History of Barmer Fort:
This small Fort was built in the 16th Century A.D. and was known as Barmer Gadh.
Architecture of Barmer Fort:
An ancient Temple dedicated to Bankal Mata is situated on this hill top. This hill top provides a panoramic view of the Barmer City, surrounding hills and beautiful valleys. The steps which lead to the top of the hill has, in between towards one side, an ancient Temple of Nagnechi Mata. The place on the ground where the steps start, an ancient Jain Temple dedicated to Lord Parshavnath (the 23rd Jain Tirthankar) is situated. It was built in the 12th Century A.D. It is adorned with beautiful sculptures, splendid glass work and paintings.
