Location of Temple Shri Kalyan Ji Baran:
This Temple is situated at a distance of 2 Km from Baran Railway Station in Shri Ji Ka Chowk, District Baran, Rajasthan. It is dedicated to Shri Kalyan Rai Ji.
History of Temple Shri Kalyan Ji:
When Mughal Emperor captured the Fort of Ranthambhor, Rao Surjan Singh of Ranthambhor brought two idols of Lord Vishnu with him to Bundi. Rani Kunwar Bai Ji, the queen of Rao Bhojraj asked him to install one idol in Bundi City and another at Baran. This Temple was constructed between Years 1585-1607 by Rao Bhojraj and Rani Kunwar Bai Ji.
Architecture of Temple Shri Kalyan Ji Baran:
It is built in Nagar style of architecture and lime and stone have been used in its construction. It is square-shaped having round-shaped dome at the top and a verandah in front having a dome at its top. On the panel gate of Sanctum Sanctorum an image of Mahavir Ji with holy hymns is encarved. The pinnacle of the Temple has a fully blooming lotus flower with three kalash (Urns) one on another in the center.
The idol of Lord Kalyan Rai Ji is made of black stone and is in standing posture. It has been installed on a beautiful and artistic seat covered with silver work. The entrance gate of the Temple is also magnificent. At the entrance, there is a Nakkarkhana having two canopies over it. The Nakkaras (Kettledrums) are beaten here at the time of Aarati. A big open space lies between the gate and the main Temple. A massive pillar has been constructed here having a statue of Garud Ji (the carrier of Lord Vishnu) at the top under a rectangular canopy.
