This memorial of Ala-al-Din Khan is located just outside the Dargah Sharif of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishti towards its West in Ajmer City, District Ajmer, Rajasthan.
History of the Tomb:
Ala-al-Din Khan was the main care-taker of the Dargah Sharif until his death. This memorial was built in 1659-1660 A.D. during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
Architecture of the Tomb:
This rectangular structure is built of white marble and has got its name from the sixteen (known as ‘Solah’ in Hindi) columns that support its cusped entrance arches. Its roof bears four slender minarets, one on each corner. The architecture of its three Mirhabs resembles to that of the central Mirhab of the Shah Jahani Mosque situated inside the Dargah Sharif.
