Location of Shri Adinath Digambar Jain Temple:

This ancient Temple is situated at a distance of 60 Km from Ajmer City in town Sarwar, District Ajmer, Rajasthan. It is dedicated to Lord Adinath, the 1st Tirthankar of Jains.

History of Shri Adinath Digambar Jain Temple:

It is said that about 2000 years ago this town was the Capital of the Gaur Kings. At that time this town was very prosperous and was a major centre of Jainism. The main Temple bears an inscription which depicts that this Temple was reconstructed in 1068 A.D. In year 1197 A.D., Qutub-ud-din-Aiybak, the general of Mohammad Ghori, came here with a huge force to destroy this temple and the idol. As he entered the first ground of the Temple, a dense flock of honey bees attacked the invaders. The invaders bowed their heads before the principal deity and then were able to escape from that trouble.

A statue of Qutub-ud-din-Aiybak is still standing here with folded hands and bowing his head, which is a proof of that miracle. In the year 1990, 42 black-stone idols said to be about 2000 years old were recovered from the ground of this Temple.

Architecture of Shri Adinath Digambar Jain Temple:

The white-colored main Temple is huge in size and has Hindu Temples in different parts of it. The 900 years old white- stone idol of Lord Adinath is said to have been brought from Chittorgarh Fort. The idol is very beautiful and is seated in cross legged posture.
